Sundog Media is family-owned Alaska web design business, comprised of a friendly group of professionals with years of experience who love to create brilliant websites, founded by Joe & Cathy Law in 1996. All of the team members of Sundog Media work from their own home offices, with the goal of striking a balance between family and work.

Joe Law | Owner
Ever since I was a child, I have known that I would be an artist. When other kids in class were taking notes I was drawing a picture of the teacher or something that caught my eye outside the window. It was a natural progression to get a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Idaho with an emphasis in Computer Graphic Design. Amazingly, what I do for a living now (web design) was just being invented as I was graduating from college, and I have been able to apply my love for design to this medium since the early 90′s. I truly have a passion for design, be it a logo or new web user interface for a company.
Sundog Media is simply the vehicle that allows me to be involved in design with a great group of people developing ideas for customers within Alaska and across the nation. My love for Alaska, and especially our favorite pastime of exploring Prince William Sound as a family in our 1974 Grand Banks yacht (appropriately named “Sundog”), plays a big part in my inspiration and continued passion for what I do. Alaska is an amazing backdrop that truly shows God’s handiwork, and we are blessed to be able both work and play here.

Cathy Law | Owner
With a degree in Accounting and an amazing eye for detail, Cathy’s background plays a large role in the stability and success of Sundog Media. Cathy divides her time between accounting and administrative work for Sundog Media, homeschooling our oldest sons, Caleb & Joshua, and, just to make life a little more exciting, caring for our triplets born Dec. 3, 2009. That’s right – triplets5 boys! Enjoy some photos. One of Cathy’s passions, as you can see from the photos, is spending time as a family out in Prince William Sound in our boat, the “Sundog”. With the new triplets, a bigger boat was a necessity so…. we located a 36′ Grand Banks Classic for another wild adventure.

David DuplessisDavid Duplessis | Production Manager
David has been designing and building websites since the early 90′s when he first teamed up and started Web Weavers Technology Group. Eventually, David sold the company but stayed on as the production manager. And, when Sundog Media purchased the company in 2008, we were blessed to be able to continue to contract with David. He now plays a pivotal role in the combined company. David oversees Sundog Media’s production and performs many of the project tasks related to site development and management. He has managed and had direct input in the development and creation of thousands of web-based projects over the years! David lived in Fairbanks for years, and now lives outside of Nashville, TN where he enjoys warmer weather and amazing restaurants. Cooking is one of David’s life’s passions – enjoy an article he wrote “Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should!

Kym Van ArsdaleKym Van Arsdale | Software Engineer
When I first met Kym and asked her to tell me about the work she has been doing, she simply stated that she could tell me but then she would have to kill me. Well not really, but her government work required a security clearance and she was not allowed to give many details. With a degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Alaska, Anchorage, Kym brings experience in website design, software development, and system analysis. She has worked on several large-scale federal and private web applications, in a variety of programming languages. Kym is one of those rare programming geeks who can communicate with real people and get things done! Kym has a very active life, balancing all of the roles she plays with Sundog Media, her life as mom to Brock and Simon, and wife to an adventurous outdoorsman.

Kyle AleshireKyle Aleshire | Web Production
For as long as he can remember, Kyle has been intensely interested in the world of technology and built his first computer by the age of 14. He loves to apply this passion by helping people understand technology as well as furthering his own understanding. Currently, he is finishing his Computer Science degree at the University of Alaska Anchorage. When not absorbing the latest trends in technology and design, Kyle enjoys the musical pursuits of playing the bass guitar and singing. A long-time Alaskan, he also enjoys traveling and catching the sun around the globe when the opportunity presents itself.

Jeff Carlisle | Web Production / Carlisle Graphics
Jeff Carlisle has been involved with Sundog Media almost since it’s beginning. We have grown to count on his company (Carlisle Graphics) to provide regular assistance with web maintenance and and providing invaluable support for our customers. Not only is Jeff a great artist, he also makes some mighty fine enchiladas and knows his way around a “Big Green Egg” barbecuer. Jeff is a family man first and, when not enjoying his old VW’s, he is usually under the hood of a web site, making things work! In this picture, Jeff is with his wife, Connie, enjoying the warmth of Hawaii where they dream to live some day.

Jeni LeidenfrostJeni Leidenfrost | Communications & Accounting
Jeni and Cathy were roommates in college and her husband, Huba, is one of Joe’s closest long-time friends. Joe and Huba were subjected to Jeni’s first foray into cooking before she learned the subtleties of temperature control, bravely (and cheerfully) consuming many truly terrible pancake breakfasts (wow, are these cream-filled?) with extra, extra crisp bacon (Cajun style!). Many years later we remain close friends. Having mastered cooking as well as office management, Jeni works for us from Idaho and enjoys being a wife and a mom of two very fun kids. She is also known for her very delicious cheesecake.

Brad Potter | Technology Guru / Website
Brad Potter is a long time friend, consultant, and fishing buddy. Brad and I joined forces around 1997 when I walked into his office to get a new hard drive for my Apple computer. Brad was a certified Apple technician, and as we chatted, I asked him if he developed websites. From that moment on, we have been close friends and collaborators on many hundreds of projects.
Brad (owner of Alaska Interactive) is one of the most broadly based, knowledgeable persons in the web development community that I have ever known. I regularly consult with him. Brad is currently very passionate about developing websites working with the WordPress Content Management System. When Brad is not glued to the computer, furthering his skills and projects, he is busy with his family. Oh yeah – he’s not a bad fisherman either.

Kristian PettyjohnKristian Pettyjohn | Web Design / Tailor Web Design
With a degree in Marketing and Finance, Kristian is virtually capable of anything he sets his mind too and he has poured that passion and energy into the world of web design.  Kristian started designing websites for Sundog Media and now with the recent launch of his company (Tailor Web Design) he will play an important part of our design team focusing on creating brilliant website design.  Kristian loves exploring the globe,  with his most recent adventure having taken him to Spain, France and his personal favorite Switzerland, where he is pictured on the left.  Kristian also offers some great comic relief!
